Core Values

Community

We believe the arts are vital to the well-being of the community.
We are committed to making dance accessible to all, and to ensuring that our programs are uplifting, culturally responsive, and affordable.
Through a steadfast commitment to the communities we serve, we strengthen community bonds and transform lives.

Education

We believe dance education fosters self-discovery and expression, improves confidence, critical thinking, respect for others, and creativity, and is central to a child’s learning.
We are committed to the support, education, and empowerment of youth so they may develop their individual and collective voices, become creative leaders, and shape their future for the better.
Top-notch education, including dance education, should be available to all students without regard to socio-economic status, race, identity, or otherwise.

Creativity

We believe creativity is at the heart of our humanity and that dance taps into the deepest part of our creative self.
All of us have the ability – and desire – to be creative and express ourselves.
We support those professional dancers and choreographers who are devoted to their craft, particularly artists of color, who make our society more vibrant and who ignite thought-provoking discussions, explore significant themes, and create and perform works that resonate deeply with audiences.

Representation

We believe an inclusive, equitable, and diverse society is central to its growth and survival.
We celebrate and honor multiculturalism.
Serving historically underrepresented communities and artists goes to the heart of who we are. We must continue to do our part to address systemic racism and inequity and to champion historically marginalized and under-resourced communities.
